OPENING TO JOY

EANT CONFERENCE 2012

Radical AcceptanceFeaturing this year's keynote, TARA BRACH, author of "RADICAL ACCEPTANCE," the 2012 conference provides space and time for connection, support, and learning as we explore the depth — barriers and expressions — of the transformative power of JOY.

As you know, JOY differs from happiness in that it isn't dependent on external influences. JOY is inherently within us. When we open to it, JOY is the song that sings us, no matter our circumstances. We land in JOY as a result of our "work" with the Enneagram, daily practice, and through other precious means. JOY may arrive as a gift from grace, coming to us as divine breath that opens our hearts. In the expansiveness of JOY, we discover it holds — amd we hold — hands with compassion, acceptance, and a divine sense of well-being.

The 2012 Conference Planning Circle is preparing to greet that "little — and big — bundle of joy" within you as we shape an event with song, surprise, and plenty of spirit! Make plans now to be with us in October as we open to the JOY within ourselves and in that of our community. Let us experience the delight that arises in our shared experience.

ADDITIONAL PRESENTATIONS
Master Teachers 2012 Thanks again to our founders and leaders for their consistent support, the 2012 Conference will also feature Helen Palmer, David Daniels, MD, Terry Saracino, and Marion Gilbert, as they present their latest contemplations on the subject of JOY.

CONFERENCE LOCATION
Only 30 minutes from the richness and diversity of Washington, DC and in the midst of Virginia's autumn color, our Narrative Tradition Community will gather at the Reston Town Center, a wonderful venue with many shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and the Pavilion, which hosts many special events. Our hotel -- The Hyatt Regency Reston -- is in the heart of the Reston Town Center. It's a beautiful space that should provide a nice backdrop for our time together. We'll be only five miles from Dulles airport and the hotel provides complimentary shuttles back and forth, so transportation should be fairly easy. Just down the road is Washington, DC, which is well worth an extra few days visit if you have the time.

Consider coming early or staying an extra day or two to explore the landscape of art, museums, and natural beauty of this historic city and its surroundings. Consider bringing a friend or your students with you and enjoy the conference together.

Details regarding the 2012 conference schedule, presenters and entertainment will unfold in the next few months, so you may want to check back here, on the EANT website's conference pages, for ongoing updates.

From the Persian Poet, Hafiz, the opening and closing lines
of the poem To Build a Swing:

"You carry all the ingredients to turn your life
into a nightmare. Don't mix them!

You carry all the ingredients to turn your existence
into joy. Mix them, mix them!"
